COURSE CHANGE
Meanwhile, Matt Gaetz sudden change of course is beginning to come into sharper focus.
Matt Gaetz just said he does not intend to return to Congress and will instead focus on helping President Trump. This allows Trump to introduce two new MAGA members to Congress from Florida.
"We need a leadership structure under President Trump that's going to allow for durability of our movement... And so I'll play a part in that. I plan to be a big voice, but maybe not as an elected member of the government." – Matt Gaetz
Matt Gaetz officially doesn’t have plans to rejoin congress but he does have plans to expose members of Congress for their insider trading! Lots of sweating in DC right now!
Pam Bondi, a brilliant pick, is likely to get approved far easier than Gaetz. Then she and Gaetz can get down to business more quickly.
She takes a Democrat strategy off the table. It is harder to make up sexual misconduct charges against a woman. They will have to be cleverer with their “wrap-up smear.”
Gaetz could assume a high-profile role in the DOJ. Within the Department of Justice, there are several positions that do not require Senate confirmation:
Associate Attorney General: This is one of the highest-ranking positions within the DOJ where the appointment does not need Senate confirmation. The Associate Attorney General can be appointed directly by the President, although this position typically holds significant responsibilities in managing DOJ’s civil litigation and other key functions.
Certain Senior Staff and Advisors: Roles like Chief of Staff or Senior Counselors to the Attorney General or other senior DOJ officials might not require Senate confirmation. These are positions where the appointee advises or assists the leadership in various capacities without necessarily needing formal Senate vetting.
Acting Officials: While not permanent positions, acting officials can be appointed to fill roles temporarily (like Acting Attorney General, Acting Deputy Attorney General) without Senate confirmation for a limited period, usually up to 210 days, which can be extended under specific circumstances.
Positions Created or Redefined by the Administration: Sometimes, administrations might create new positions or redefine existing ones that do not fall under the category requiring Senate confirmation. These could be for specific policy initiatives or to handle particular tasks without the need for Senate vetting.
Special Counsel or Independent Counsels: Although these roles are appointed for specific investigations and have unique hiring processes that might not involve Senate confirmation in the traditional sense, they still require significant oversight and approval from within the DOJ or other federal entities.
Any one of these roles would give Gaetz the “perch” he needs to bring swift justice. He is more than qualified for any of these roles.
Gaetz did drop this rather strong hint:

He may simply work behind the scenes in Trump’s inner circle. Time will tell. He is this weekend working at Mar-a-Lago to help Trump select new mid-tier and lower-level players.
Regardless, it looks like this course change has been carefully thought through.
