It's Our Turn Now

Joel Balin

The inauguration of President Trump marks a seismic shift in our country, our culture, and the Church. After years under the control of a party that threw God out of their platform, the new administration opens the door to the restoration of Judeo-Christian values, practices, and policies. It swings wide the gates for us to freely minister, evangelize, and lead our families, businesses, and communities in unrestricted, Holy Spirit-led, biblical ways.

Trump's day-one executive orders have answered our prayers for justice in unprecedented ways, including pardons for 1500 of the Jan.6 defendants and prisoners. Tim Day will fill us in tomorrow on the earth-shaking and kingdom-quaking changes unfolding before our eyes. Donald Trump not only released a “God Bless America” Bible but was sworn in with a Bible given to his mother by his great-aunts, whose prayers ignited the Hebrides revival. Trump was named after his mother’s cousin, Donald, who was mightily used in the revival as a teen. These ties to historical revival in our president spur us on to become men that God is raising up to lead revival and reformation in our time. Trump’s administration has businessmen, former political opponents, and those who have emerged out of great trials. God has used men like this to lead his people throughout history. They spur us on to recognize that it’s our turn now. God used these pivotal pioneers as models for the men we’re to be in turning our country, culture, and the Church back to God. Men like:

  • David’s mighty men of valor - David’s remnant army of misfits and malcontents longed for Israel’s restoration to God-ordained leadership. They came alive as, "David shepherded them with the honor and integrity of his heart; he led them in wisdom with strong and skillful hands.” Psalm 78:72

David’s leadership led to the rise of heroic, loyal, and courageous warriors.

Today, we see a similar pattern. Trump’s administration includes men who were once dismissed, opposed, or written off. God has used their trials to shape them into leaders for such a time as this. RFK Jr., a man who was shunned by his own party and family, prayed to become a mighty man of valor—and God answered. When Trump invited him to serve, it was a prophetic act of restoration and redemption.

This is our time to follow suit and be like David’s mighty men, ready to pray and fight for restoration and reformation.

  • Josiah -  This young king rediscovered the scrolls of the “Book of the Law” (Deuteronomy) that were lost in the temple and brought his nation back to the Word. It’s our turn to bring the Word of God back to prominence in the Church. His reformation also removed the altars to false gods, “destroyed the high places and cut down the Asherah poles” 2 Kings 22 & 23

In the same way, President Trump has made bold moves. He’s brought back the Bible and is tearing down the high places of Woke idols. He vowed to “end the transgender lunacy,” and declared, “It will be the policy of the United States that there are only two genders, male and female.”

Josiah also destroyed the place where children were sacrificed to Molech. During Trump’s first term, he paved the way for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, a monumental step in ending the sacrifice of our children.

During this new term, let’s join with the Trump administration as men like Josiah, who will reclaim the Word of God as the foundation for our families, our communities, and our nation. This isn’t just about policies—it’s about restoring God’s truth in every sphere of life.

  • Nehemiah - a time for building. Nehemiah saw the broken walls of Jerusalem and the despair of his people, but instead of giving up, he sought God. He fasted, prayed, and asked for favor with the king. Then, he led the people to rebuild—with tools in one hand and weapons in the other.

Trump and Elon Musk are modern-day builders, leading efforts to rebuild America’s governmental, physical, and cultural foundations. But this is also our call. As kingdom builders, we must recognize the spiritual decline around us, pray for divine favor, and get to work.

There will be opposition—there always is. Nehemiah faced resistance from corrupt leaders like Sanballat and Tobias, who tried to intimidate and threaten the work. But Nehemiah didn’t back down, and neither can we. We have the ultimate weapon: the sword of the Spirit, God’s Word.

It’s our turn now.
