Let Freedom Ring

As we head into Independence Day in light of last week’s presidential debate debacle, it raises some startling questions such as:

  • Can the state of our union and its leadership be redeemed?

  • Can the accumulating cracks in the liberty bell be repaired?

  • Can we still be the land of the free and the home of the brave?

  • Can America be saved and blessed again?

  • Can the lukewarm, apostate, complacent church be awakened from its slumber?

According to scripture, the answer is a “conditional yes.” It’s up to us.

“…if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

“Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you. Awake, awake! Clothe yourself in strength, O Zion.” Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah. Restore us, God; look on us with favor, and we will be saved. Eph 5:14, Isaiah 52, Psalm 33:12, Psalm 80:30

Though we have a good idea of which presidential candidate can hit a golf ball farther and which candidate best represents our biblical values, the outcome is debatable. The most universal takeaway from the debate is that freedom and truth are hanging by a thread.

During times like these, it’s helpful to remind ourselves that the Word is not debatable. Here are some indisputable truths from the Word for us to stand on when truth itself is under attack.

  • Every word of God is true; The Word of God is truth.

Every word of God proves true; “I am the way and the truth and the life. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” For the word of the Lord is right and true. Proverbs 30:5, John 14:6 , John 8:32, Psalm 33:4

  • Our freedom is from Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

For freedom Christ has set us free; So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed; Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom; For you were called to freedom, brothers. John 8:36, Galatians 5:1, 2 Corinthians 3:17, Galatians 5:13

  • Nothing is impossible with God. His word never fails.

For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment. Luke 1:37 AMPC

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. 2 Cor 1:20

  • God is still on the throne.

The Lord has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all . . . and the government shall be upon His shoulder . . .and of His Kingdom there shall be no end. Psalm 103:19, Isaiah 9:6, Luke 1:33
