Mighty Men

As a child, I was glued to the TV every Saturday morning, captivated by the heroic exploits of Mighty Mouse. This tiny parody of Superman battled villainous gangs of cats and rescued damsels in distress like Pearl Pureheart.
Recently, I realized why I was so drawn to this character. As the youngest in my family, I connected with someone small and unlikely—yet still capable of conquering villains, solving problems, and bringing justice. Inspired by this brave rodent, I would run through the house singing his theme song: “Here I come to save the day!”
God Uses the Unlikely
The Bible is filled with men who seemed insignificant and unqualified, yet God called them to save the day:
Gideon protested, “How can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” (Judges 6:15)
Moses was an orphan and an outcast, yet God chose him to lead Israel out of slavery.
David was the youngest of eight brothers, ignored by his father and possibly illegitimate, yet he became Israel’s greatest king.
The men who first rallied around David were described as “every man who was desperate, in debt, or discontented” (1 Samuel 22:2). Yet, these outcasts became one of the mightiest fighting forces in history because they united behind a former shepherd boy—a man who “became stronger and stronger because the Lord All-Powerful was with him” (2 Samuel 5:10).
Today’s Mighty Men
God is once again gathering men in unity around His causes. He is raising up Davids—men after His own heart—and Gideons, of whom the Lord says, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!”
These men will rise from businesses, churches, and every arena of culture. We are in a Kairos moment—a divine season of opportunity. Let’s pray, act, and stand together as mighty men of valor to see the glory of God’s kingdom advance.
There is a wide-open door for a great work. 1 Corinthians 16:9
