Our Finest Hour

The next 27 days leading up to November 5th could be our finest hour. The biggest October surprise could be how heroic and victorious the church is during the darkest times. We are truly in a historic time of biblical proportions. These words from history speak to us today.

Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. … Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if America lasts for a thousand years, men will still say, "This was their finest hour." Winston Churchill (Americanized Version)

"When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise up a standard against him." Isaiah 59:19

We are in the battle of our lifetime. With the upcoming election, the onslaught of global tyranny, cultural chaos, and blatant depravity, our country and the world haven’t faced this level of threat since World War II when Winston Churchill delivered his “This was their finest hour” speech.

We know that the church, even if it’s a remnant, is the key to saving America (2 Chron 7:14). God has given us men in the Bible, and even today, who prophetically live out what we are all capable of if we will be strong and courageous in the Lord. Saturday, quarterback Diego Pavia led Vanderbilt, who has been at the bottom of the SEC for decades, in a stunning upset victory over #1 ranked Alabama!!! The atypical quarterback said that God showed him when he was five years old that he would unexpectedly beat the number one team in the SEC.

After immaturely cussing in his original post-game interview, Pavia apologized on X with, "I’m sorry for cussing last night but, God you are the TRUTH AND ALL THE GLORY GOES TO YOU!! For y’all that don’t know him, get to know him. HE IS MAGICAL." You gotta love zeal, even when lacking some knowledge.

Like David defeating Goliath, Pavia’s win is a prophetic example of how God can use unlikely, imperfect, underdog vessels to bring victory, salvation, deliverance, and to heal our land.

If America ever needed men to rise up, it is now. Let’s be like the following heroes who are models for us to “not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Gal 6:9. Or to quote Winston Churchill again, “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never . . . Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

Let’s stand in the gap like:

  • Caleb, about whom God said, Because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.” Numbers 14:12

Even with all the lying and fake news coming at us, we can be like Caleb and not believe the enemy’s report but believe for, fight for, and see America enter the promise land of its destiny.

  • Moses failed big-time in his first attempt to save God’s people, but 40 years later, he emerged as the greatest deliverer of the Old Testament.

  • Elisha wasn’t content with just doing what his mentor, Elijah, did.  Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” 2 Kings 2:9.  We shouldn't settle for doing less than those we admire who have gone before us, but ask for more anointing, more power, and a double portion of influence and miracles.

  • Abraham “did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised . . . And if you belong to Christ, then you are descendants of Abraham. Because of that, you will receive all the good things that God promised to Abraham. Romans 4:20-21, Gal 3:29.

  • Joseph had his dream dreams dashed as he went from the pit to the prison “until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the Lord tested him.” 105:19  When we remain faithful to God and His word through our trials and tests, our testimony will fulfill all our dreams and bring glory to God.

  • Gideon was the least of his family who were the weakest clan in Israel, but became a judge and a mighty warrior. When Israel had fallen into the hands of the enemy from disobeying God’s command to “not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works; but.. (to)...utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars.” (Exodus 23:24), Gideon pushed through his doubt, unbelief, and own weakness to see the power of God deliver his nation through a mighty Remnant.

  • Josiah tore down the high places and destroyed idolatrous altars because “He didn’t want anyone to use the high place to sacrifice his son or daughter in the fire to the god named Molek.” 2 Kings 23:10

Josiah’s father and grandfather were two of the most evil kings Judah had ever had, but Josiah turned the nation around when he cleaned out the temple to prepare it for use and rediscovered the scrolls of the Word of God.   He told the wicked, failing nation he had inherited, “Great is the wrath of the LORD that is aroused against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written.” Kings 22:13. As so much of the church has abandoned the Word of God and the nation plummets into dissipation, we must rise us in the spirit of Josiah and redeem the Word, tear down the high places, stop the sacrifice of our children through abortion, grooming, and “gender-affirming care,” and redeem what those who have gone before have abandoned.

  • John baptized people and called them to repentance. He also pointed them to Jesus and prophesied the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Even at the cost of his life, John wasn’t afraid to publicly call out the sin of the most powerful politician in his country.

Through the same Holy Spirit, we can be like John, who was “filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. And … turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous.” Luke 1:15-17
