On a recent episode of American Thought Leaders on Epoch TV, Dr. Ben Carson drew attention to a report that was read into the Congressional record over sixty years ago—January 10, 1963. The report, titled “Communist Goals,” outlined specific tactics employed to destroy the very fabric of American society. It was derived from the work of Cleon Skousen, whose book The Naked Communist, detailed the covert tactics used to infiltrate and subvert societies.
The following comes from that report.
Communist Goals
Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. • Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack. • Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions. • Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures. • Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms." • Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV. • Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce. • Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. • Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy." • Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch." • Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state." • Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. • Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man." • Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." • Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture—education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc. • Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus. • Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities. • Infiltrate and gain control of more unions. • Infiltrate and gain control of big business.
In the year 1963 this was a list of warnings but in 2024 it’s a checklist of what’s been implemented and a basis for serious grievances for every American who believes in the sanctity of family, decency and liberty.
The tactics listed in the 1963 Congressional record have become deeply entrenched in our culture. They have been shed broadly and are painfully evident: nuclear families destroyed by the welfare state; the obfuscation of marriage, the disparagement of men and fathers and the trans attack on women; the perverse child abuse in our educational system; the deception of trans ideology and the destructiveness of gender fluidity and identity; the sustentation of racism and quotas and the injustices of wokeness; the rise of antisemitism and the persecutions of Christians; the tearing down of monuments and the revisions of our history. The list goes on and on—each one purposed to destroy our country through the intentional and utter collapse of our values, our mores, our history, our families and our human dignity.
What began in the 1960’s as a warm bath is fast approaching a full boil as our nation sits unperturbed like the proverbial frog in a pot of rolling water. The question is: will we be able to escape the caldron of communism that we now find ourselves in? Make no mistake, the outcome of the next election will determine our future. If, as citizens, we fail to do what is necessary to muster our courage, our industry and our resources, then America will be served up on the platter of despotism.
