Abundance

The contrast was jarring.
We traveled 8,200 miles to minister in Zambia. And there we sat waiting for the electricity to come on. The power had gone out—again—so we ended up continuing under the hum and flicker of a rented fuel-powered generator. And yet, just 10 kilometers away thundered one of the greatest natural generators in the world: Victoria Falls—a mighty source of energy, beauty, and power.
That irony pierced me.
Here we were, worshipping in darkness beside one of the greatest power sources on the planet. The pastor stood up and said, “We need to raise money for a generator.” My heart sank. The sheer potential of this land, so rich in natural resources, has for generations been choked by corruption, injustice, and mismanagement. God had given Africa abundance—but man had buried it under scarcity.
And yet…
Right in the midst of that scarcity, abundance began to rise. The Lord stirred me to stand and pledge half the cost of the needed generator. Then I told them, “We will partner with you and match everything you give.” It was a small act of obedience—but it primed the pump of God’s generosity.
What happened next inspired me greatly.
These precious believers—many of whom lived day-to-day—rose up and gave sacrificially to cover their half. The generator was purchased the very next day.
And then… the heavens opened.
Right as we all gave, what had been a devastating six-week draught, one of the longest on record, suddenly broke with a downpour so strong it thundered on the tin roof above us. Crops had been threatened. Hope was drying up. But as generosity poured out, the floodgates of heaven opened and rain poured down from the sky.
As it flooded the land and flooded our hearts, God was responding:
“See if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing so great you won’t have room to receive it.” —Malachi 3:10
This is how the kingdom of God works.
Clenched fists stop the flow of abundance, but God opens the heavens when our hands are open. If God can get it through us, He will get it to us. And when He does, it’s never just for us. It’s to awaken a chain reaction of generosity and transformation.
“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” —Proverbs 11:25
“My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 4:19

The praise that erupted in that church didn’t sound like lack or dryness—it was a downpour of joy, a flood of hallelujahs, a shout of victory that rose like the rain after drought. It was the sound of heaven breaking open where earth had cried, “not enough,” and God answered with more than enough.
Beyond the Gate
Churches in Zambia continue to experience the blessing of what we’ve sown into them:
The generator powering the church in Livingston
The brick making machines, ministry vehicles, and the 100s of people Curtis Minter and I ministered to and saw saved, delivered and while we were in Lusaka
The church building we helped construct and continue to support alongside Bishop Simon Chabinga and Pastor Joel Njekwa at Life Changing Chapel.
But the story doesn’t stop there.
We now have a chance to see God’s abundance pour out—not just on two cities but in villages across Zambia and beyond. Through Chris Rackely and Beyond the Gate Ministries, we’re partnering to evangleize and plant churches among unreached people groups in some of the most remote regions of Africa.
A double blessing:
Our friends, Bobby and Nan Bullard with Partners in Ministry (PIM) have agreed to match every gift we give toward this mission.—doubling the impact to support missionaries carrying the light of the gospel to places still waiting to hear.
This is a Holy Spirit-appointed partnership.
Let’s give from the abundance God has given us—so that others can experience His abundance too.
